The library is open daily for students 6:50am until 2:25pm.  A variety of books and materials, both circulation and non-circulating, are housed in the library for students to access.  Students are encouraged to take full advantage of library services.  Most books can be checked out for two weeks.

The print resources in the main room of the library are used by students for classroom assignments and for recreational reading.

Students are allowed to access the internet and online databases in the library for class assignments.

All McKinley Middle Academic Magnet students are required to read 3 books from the Summer Reading List.  Substitutions may be made from the list found on the parish website, www.ebrschools.org   - click on Instruction, click on Library Services and on the link 6-8.  Students are expected to take Accelerated Reader tests on these books during the first 30 days of school, August 10, 2009 – September 15, 2009.

Students may take AR test (summer reading) in the ELA teacher’s classroom or in the library when they are sent by the ELA teacher.  They may also take an AR test on their summer reading during Big Break.  It is the student’s responsibility to be prepared to take tests in the ELA class or the library.  It is the ELA teacher’s responsibility to ensure that they are given the opportunity to take the test in the library or in the classroom.
