The keyboard is the #1 input device on a computer.  Keyboarding’s focus is skill development in the touch method of operating the computer keyboard while mastering basic keyboarding techniques and formats with speed and control.

The students gain skill in applying the correct techniques by:

  • preparing simple personal and business documents
  • completing projects
  • reinforced communication skills
  • documents are formatted, composed, and proofread

Furthermore emphasis is placed on skill development for entry-level employment and/or secondary education.

Although not difficult to achieve, typing by touch does demand a commitment of excellence from the student, determination, and dedication.  The better the student is able to navigate the keyboard, the more productive he/she will be on the computer.

To facilitate the “by touch” method, it is ESSENTIAL that the student maintains appropriate fingernail length, practice 20 minutes each day, and follows correct technique and fundamentals.
