Trick or Treat so Kids Can EatSM
According to Feeding America, more than 35 million Americans do not have enough food; of these, 12 million are children. Households with dependents are more likely to experience hunger at almost double the rate for those without children (15.6% versus 8.5%). These families are often forced to choose between buying food and paying for medical bills, rent, or other utilities. The United States has the resources to help make their decisions a little easier; it is the largest and most efficient food producer in the world. You can help alleviate hunger in your own neighborhood by participating in the 2009 Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat (TOTS-EAT) food drive.
TOTS-EAT is the International Thespian Society’s annual nationwide community service initiative to collect food for the hungry. Thespian troupes from across the country
will collect canned and dry goods for local charities and food banks, giving organizations the ability to help thousands of local people.
More than 35 million Americans, including 12 million children, face hunger every day. That's more than five times the population of Los Angeles, California. According to America's Second Harvest Network, the hunger rate in the United States has risen 18% since 1997. By participating in the TOTS-EAT food drive, you can help alleviate hunger that is on the rise in your own backyard.
